Sunday, October 27, 2019: Philly, Honey's, Museum of Art, Barnes Foundation, Edgar A. Poe, Sazon Cafe

We woke this morning to a steady rain. I got down to the kitchen to find a puddle and a leaking ceiling. The kitchen ceiling is directly beneath the roof, so the water was rain water. I called the owner's contact number and, not getting an answer, left a message.

Maria suggested we go to Honey's Sit 'n Eat for breakfast, a Philly favorite (http://honeyssitneat.com/). We got there and there was a line. It took about 20 minutes to get a table. I ordered the chicken fried steak, eggs, potatoes and biscuits. Maria ordered the Honey’s Cristo (challah french toast stuffed with lancaster county double smoked ham and swiss cheese, topped with
two sunny eggs, side salad). It was all delicious.

After breakfast we headed toward the Philadelphia Museum of Art, stopping at the Balboa memorial.

It's been raining steadily all morning and you can barely see the city skyline.

Rocky's steps.

By the time we left the museum, it had started to clear up a bit.

Next we went to the Barnes Foundation Museum. We did not know what we would find, but we were both very pleasantly impressed with this collection.

Our last stop of the day was the home of Edgar Alan Poe.

Finally the sun came out as we walked down to the Venezuelan Sazon Restaurant & Cafe for a light lunch. This place also makes its own chocolate. Since we have reservations at the Jean George at 8:00 pm, we just had a sampler platter and a glass of passion fruit juice.
